Regular Season Round 15: Panelefsiniakos - Apollon Patras 71-72

A very close game took place in Eleusina (derby !!!) between Apollon Patras and Panelefsiniakos. Ninth ranked Apollon Patras (7-8) got a very close victory on the road over 13th ranked Panelefsiniakos (4-11). Apollon Patras managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panelefsiniakos won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American swingman Muhammad El-Amin (196-87, college: Stony Brook, agency: KMG Sports Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern, agency: LA sports) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Antiguan-American center Kurt Looby (210-84, college: Iowa, agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Panelefsiniakos' coach Tzimis Koustenis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Apollon Patras moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kolossos and AGOR. Panelefsiniakos lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Apollon Patras will meet at home higher ranked Aris (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panelefsiniakos will play against Nea Kifisia (#9) in Athens and hope to secure a win.
