The game in Oita was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Bambitious Nara (10-21) played at the court of eighth ranked Oita Heat Devils (11-20). Oita Heat Devils managed to secure a 9-point victory 73-64 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But Bambitious Nara won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Kellen Thornton (201-88, college: Tennessee St., agency: David Lee services) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Oita Heat Devils' coach Yukinori Suzuki used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Taishi Kasahara (188-89) added 14 points in the effort for Bambitious Nara. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Bambitious Nara dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face again Bambitious Nara (#8) at home in the next round.
