Regular Season Round 22: JX-Eneos S. - Niigata R. 72-57

Very expected game in Kashiwa where 8th ranked Niigata R. (5-16) was defeated by third ranked JX-Eneos S. (16-3) 72-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by JX-Eneos S.. Niigata R. was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX-Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 22. They outrebounded Niigata R. 36-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Niigata R. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. JX-Eneos S.'s coach Kiyomi Sato used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) responded with 17 points and guard Nozomi Hoshino (164-87) scored 4 points and 8 assists. JX-Eneos S. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Niigata R. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 16 games lost. JX-Eneos S. will face again Niigata R. (#9) in Tokyo in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
