Regular Season Round 19: Legia - AZS PP 99-41

There was no surprise in Warszawa where 14th ranked AZS PP (4-15) was crushed by fourth ranked Legia (12-7) 99-41 on Sunday. The game without a history. Legia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AZS PP to just 2 points in second quarter. They outrebounded AZS PP 47-31 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Legia looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by AZS PP's players. Forward Arkadiusz Kobus (197-86, agency: Promotex) fired 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Michal Aleksandrowicz (192-89) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Maciej Rostalski (198-90) produced 16 points and Michal Wielechowski (198-94) added 8 points respectively for lost side. AZS PP's coach Waldemar Mendel gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Legia have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Legia maintains fourth place with 12-7 record, which they share with Znicz Basket. Loser AZS PP stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Legia will face league's leader Stal Ostrow in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS PP will play at home against the league's second-placed Sokol Lancut (#2) and hope to win that game.
