Regular Season Round 34: Okinawa GK - Hamamatsu P. 82-63

There was a change at the BJ League leadership position after last games. Round 34 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (26-6). They were crushed by third ranked Okinawa GK (27-5) 82-63 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hamamatsu Phoenix. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 46-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Mo Charlo (203-83, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okinawa GK keeps a position of league leader. Hamamatsu Phoenix at the other side dropped to the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Iwate Big Bulls and Kyoto Hannar.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Akita NH. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play next round against Shimane Magic trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Okinawa GK will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Oita Heat Devils at home.
