Regular Season Round 29: Wakayama T. - Tochigi Brex 70-90

Top ranked Wakayama T. (4-24) recorded its twenty fourth loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by second ranked Tochigi Brex (22-9) 90-70. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-70. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Wakayama T.'s players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) chipped in 17 points. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and guard Kazutaka Takashima (191-84) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 22-9 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Wakayama T. Wakayama T. lost eleventh consecutive game. They still keep top position with 24 games lost. They share it with Kumamoto V.. Tochigi Brex are looking forward to face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Wakayama T. will play on the road against Dragonflies (#3) in Hiroshima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
