Regular Season Round 34: Iwate Big Bulls - Akita NH 69-68

Leading Akita Happinets (28-6) recorded its sixth loss on the court of second ranked Iwate Big Bulls. Visitors were edged by Iwate Big Bulls 69-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Akita Happinets took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Iwate Big Bulls had a 24-12 second period charge getting the lead and Akita Happinets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-69. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) notched 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) supported him with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by swingman Richard Roby (198-85) did not help to save the game for Akita Happinets. Forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) added 8 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Iwate Big Bulls maintains second position with 26-6 record behind leader Akita NH, which they share with Hamamatsu P. and Kyoto Hannar. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top place with six games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
