Regular Season Round 22: Palmeiras - Macae 83-67

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Palmeiras (11-11) won against 12th ranked Macae (8-14) in Sao Paulo 83-67. The game was mostly controlled by Palmeiras. Macae was better in third quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Steven Toyloy (203-87, college: Cincinnati) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) chipped in 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Palmeiras players scored in double figures. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) produced 14 points and forward Joao Bernardi (196-90) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palmeiras moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Vivo/Franca. Macae at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Palmeiras' next round opponent will be higher ranked Flamengo (#3) in Rio de Janeiro and it may be quite challenging game. Macae will play on the road against Pinheiros (#11) in Sao Paolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
