Date: February 10, 2015
Ninth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (8-9) crushed at home 12th ranked Hasharon (5-12) by 22 points 99-77, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hasharon. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-77. Ironi Ashkelon dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hasharon's 34 and made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hasharon 45-28 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St., agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Raz Zehavian (197-82) produced 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Ben Sharoni (192-90) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Ashkelon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Hapoel Kazrin. Loser Hasharon keeps the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will again meet Hasharon (#10) in the next round. Hasharon will play against Maccabi Raanana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
