Fifth-ranked Kumamoto V. (4-25) was very close to win a game against first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (26-3) in Kariya. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 23-12 last quarter charge of Kumamoto V. cut the lead to 75-73 at the end of the game. Aishin Sea Horses forced 21 Kumamoto V. turnovers. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ryoma Hashimoto (178-88) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Josh Warren (206-88, college: Troy) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Keita Takata scored 17 points and 5 assists. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 26-3 record which they share with defeated Kumamoto V. Kumamoto V. at the other side still keeps top place with 25 games lost. They share the position with Wakayama T.. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Toyota Alvark (#5) in Tokyo in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
