The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Nova Ves' (12-20) home victory over 9th ranked Levice (10-21) 89-72 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Levice managed to win fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American forward Stan Brown (204-90, college: Lamar) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84, agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Nova Ves' coach Ivan Kurilla used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by Serbian power forward Nemanja Miljkovic (204-90) did not help to save the game for Levice. Forward Vladimir Klar (191-86) added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Nova Ves maintains eighth position with 12-20 record. Loser Levice keeps the ninth place with 21 games lost. Nova Ves will meet higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Levice will play against the league's second-placed Rieker KN (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
