Regular Season Round 17: Njardvik - Grindavik 77-90

The game between third ranked Njardvik (10-7) and ninth ranked Grindavik (8-9) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Njardvik was defeated by Grindavik in Njardvik 77-90. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Njardvik. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. Njardvik managed to win second period 31-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grindavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-87, college: LIU Post) answered with 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman) added 8 points and 21 rebounds in the effort for Njardvik. Grindavik moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Keflavik and Snaefell. Njardvik at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Stjarnan. Grindavik is looking forward to face IR (#10) in Reykjavik in the next round. Njardvik will play on the road against Snaefell (#9) in Stykkisholmur and is hoping to win this game.
