Regular Season Round 17: Tindastoll - Fjolnir 103-83

Very expected game when 10th ranked Fjolnir (4-13) was smashed by second ranked Tindastoll (13-4) in Sauoarkrokur 103-83. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Fjolnir was better in third quarter 31-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll forced 22 Fjolnir turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO, agency: Two Points) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Helgi Viggosson (189-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers, agency: KMG Sports Management) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Robert Sigurdsson (175-94) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Tindastoll maintains second place with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader KR. Fjolnir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Tindastoll's next round opponent will be Keflavik (#7) on the road which should be theoretically another easy game. Fjolnir will play against Stjarnan and hope to win that game.
