Regular Season Round 39: Gigantes - Jefes 94-86

We should mention about the upset which took place in Toluca, where higher ranked Jefes (18-17) lost to tenth ranked Gigantes (14-22) in a road game 86-94. Jefes were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 29-17 third quarter run of Gigantes. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) added 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Jefes. Five Gigantes and four Jefes players scored in double figures. Gigantes maintains tenth place with 14-22 record. Newly promoted Jefes keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Huracanes. Gigantes will play against higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#5) in Monterrey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jefes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Pioneros where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
