The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Macae's (8-15) road loss to eleventh ranked Pinheiros (10-12) 69-99 on Thursday. The game without a history. Pinheiros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 72.7 percentage. It was a great evening for American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). The former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-79) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Center Atilio de Mello (203-82) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros moved-up to ninth place. Macae lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Pinheiros will face bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba (#16) in Sorocabana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Macae will play at home against Sao Jose/Vinac (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
