Regular Season Round 19: Breakers - 36ers 88-93
Date: February 12, 2015
There was a small surprise in Auckland where fourth ranked Adelaide 36ers (15-11) beat much higher ranked New Zealand Breakers (19-8) 93-88 on Thursday. New Zealand Breakers trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 26-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-93 at the end of the game. Adelaide 36ers made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. New Zealand Breakers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) responded with a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists and New Zealand guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Beo Basket) scored 26 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelaide 36ers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Wildcats. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (#8) in Gwynneville in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. New Zealand Breakers will play at home against the league's leader Cairns Taipans (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
