Regular Season Round 16: Valur - FSU 99-95
Date: February 13, 2015
Very important is a road loss of second ranked FSU (11-4) against fifth ranked Valur (8-7) on Friday night. Visiting FSU was defeated by Valur in a tough game in Reykjavik 95-99. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of FSU. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 30-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Valur made 25-of-26 free shots (96.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American point guard Nate Garth (188-89, college: UCSB) who scored that evening 25 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his fifteen free throws !!!) and forward Illugi Audunsson (196-92) supported him with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Valur players scored in double figures. Even 32 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Collin Pryor (198, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) did not help to save the game for FSU. point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) added 22 points for lost side. FSU's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Valur maintains fifth position with 8-7 record. Loser FSU keeps the second place with four games lost. Valur will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. FSU will play against Hamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
