Second Stage Round 10: Tsmoki II - Rubon 83-82

Fourth-ranked Rubon (11-10) gave a tough game to second ranked Tsmoki II (17-3) in Minsk. Tsmoki II managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected easier game. It looked good early as Rubon took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tsmoki II had a 24-16 second period charge getting the lead and Rubon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-83. Forward Yauheni Beliankou (198-95) notched 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Roman Rubinshteyn (195-96) supported him with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by power forward Victor Ilyukevich (203-94) did not help to save the game for Rubon. The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) added 13 points and 11 assists for lost side. Rubon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tsmoki II maintains second position in League with 17-3 record behind leader Grodno-93. Rubon at the other side dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. Tsmoki II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk BGU Minsk.
