Regular Season Round 23: Minas - Paulistano 72-69

Sixth-ranked Paulistano (11-11) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Minas (15-8) in Belo Horizonte. Minas managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Paulistano. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Paulistano was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Alex Oliveira (196-83) who led the winners and scored 27 points. Point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) came up with 19 points and center Thiago Labbate (208-83) added 13 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for Paulistano in the defeat. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Minas. They maintain fifth place with 15-8 record. Paulistano at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Minas will play against league's leader Paschoalotto/Bauru on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paulistano will play against Rio Claro (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
