There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Canberra Capitals (11-11) won against at home second-ranked Bendigo Spirit (15-7) 85-75 on Friday. Canberra Capitals made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Canberra Capitals outrebounded Bendigo Spirit 34-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. Bendigo Spirit was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bendigo Spirit. Bendigo Spirit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Canberra Capitals moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bulleen B. and Sydney UF. Defending champion Bendigo Spirit keeps the second position with seven games lost.
