Regular Season Round 20: Sancti Spiritus - Camaguey 82-62

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Sancti Spiritus (14-5) crushed at home 6th ranked Camaguey (6-14) 82-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sancti Spiritus. Camaguey managed to win third quarter 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Camaguey to just 6 points in fourth quarter. The winners were led by international Yamara Amargo (179-85) who scored that evening 39 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard Lesbia Foscades (165-85) supported her with 16 points and 4 assists. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by international forward Leidis Oquendo (180-82) did not help to save the game for Camaguey. Forward Rachel Contrera (182-99) added 17 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Sancti Spiritus have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-5 record having six points less than leader Pinar del Rio. Loser Camaguey keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Sancti Spiritus will meet league's second-placed Capitalinas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Camaguey will play against Artemisa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
