Regular Season Round 17: Dublin Inter - Swords Thunder 64-67

Tenth-ranked Dublin Inter (3-11) gave a tough game to second ranked Swords Thunder (11-2) on Saturday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 67-64. However their fans expected much easier game. Spanish forward Juan Torres (196-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Isaac Westbrooks (189-85) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Swords Thunder players scored in double figures. Lithuanian forward Irmantas Griksas (202-86) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and international power forward Aurimas Statkus (201-81) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Newly promoted Swords Thunder maintains second place with 11-2 record having six points less than leader UCC Demons. Dublin Inter lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Swords Thunder are looking forward to face Neptune Cork (#6) on the road in the next round. Dublin Inter will play against DCU Saints (#7) in Dublin and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
