Regular Season Round 24: Hitachi Cougars - Chanson V-M 41-97

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Chanson V-M (16-6) outplayed 10th ranked Hitachi Cougars (2-22) in Hitachinaka 97-41 on Saturday. The game without a history. Chanson V-M led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 24. Chanson V-M forced 19 Hitachi Cougars turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Chanson V-M looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hitachi Cougars' players. It was a good game for center Sugiyama Miyuki (196-94) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) replied with 9 points and 6 rebounds and center Kayoko Amano (180-89) added 3 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chanson V-M moved-up to third place, which they share with Toyota A. and Denso Iris. Hitachi Cougars lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 22 games lost. Chanson V-M will face Toyota A. (#5) in Nagoya in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
