Regular Season Round 35: Shinshu BW - Fukushima 77-95
Date: February 14, 2015
There was a small surprise in Nagano where ninth ranked Fukushima (11-22) won against 7th ranked Shinshu BW (13-18) 95-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fukushima. Shinshu BW managed to win third quarter 21-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) helped adding 22 points and 8 rebounds. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Fukushima moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Shinshu BW keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again against Fukushima (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
