Regular Season Round 14: Cortegada - GDKO Bizkaia 68-61

Round 14 in LF2 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Vilagarcia Arousa where host Cortegada (11-4) beat league's leader GDKO Bizkaia (12-3) 68-61 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But GDKO Bizkaia won third quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cortegada won last quarter 17-12. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by GDKO Bizkaia's players. The best player for the winners was guard Montserrat Gilabert (172-80) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 assists. Guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 16 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. point guard Juana Molina-Prados (172-91) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Cortegada maintains fourth position in Group A with 11-4 record. GDKO Bizkaia at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Arxil Pontev.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ensino. GDKO Bizkaia will play next round against Araski AES trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Cortegada will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Pabellon Ourense on the road.
