Regular Season Round 18: Akropol - Mark Basket 68-80

No shocking result in a game in Spanga where sixth ranked Mark Basket (10-8) defeated 10th ranked Akropol (4-14) 80-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mark Basket. Akropol managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Akropol 45-24 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mark Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American Ashley Daniels (186-89, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Jasmine Thomas (170-91, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five Mark Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Cecilia Ferm (178-75) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Hope Elam (185-89, college: Indiana) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Mark Basket maintains sixth position with 10-8 record. Newly promoted Akropol keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Mark Basket will meet at home higher ranked Sallen (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akropol will play against Alvik Basket (#4) and hope to secure a win.
