Regular Season Round 35: Niigata Albirex - Iwate Big Bulls 71-69

The most exciting game of round 35 in the BJ League took place in Niigata. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (26-7) to fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (21-12) 71-69 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-69. The best player for the winners was American center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) produced 17 points and guard Tsukino Masato (178-88) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Niigata Albirex moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Iwate Big Bulls at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Niigata Albirex is again looking forward to face league's second-placed Iwate Big Bulls at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round.
