Very expected game when 8th ranked Guantanamo (2-17) was defeated on the road by second ranked Santiago (15-5) 80-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Santiago. Guantanamo managed to win fourth quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who scored 18 points and 4 steals. The former international guard Maikel Romero (188-85) chipped in 9 points. The former international swingman Yoannis Soria (195-86) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Daniel Duporte (185-86) added 20 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Santiago have a solid three-game winning streak.
