Regular Season Round 22: St Chamond - Avignon-Sorgues 84-68

NM1 top team - Saint Chamond (16-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Sorgues BC (7-13) 84-68. It looked good early as Sorgues BC took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Saint Chamond had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and Sorgues BC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-84. Saint Chamond made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Sorgues BC outrebounded Saint Chamond 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Power forward Jean-Stephane Rinna (198-83) notched 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and naturalized DR Congolese guard Jean-Paul Landu-Bongo (185-85) supported him with 17 points. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by American-Spanish forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) did not help to save the game for Sorgues BC. Guard Bateko Francisco (185-84, college: Robert Morris) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Sorgues BC players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond maintains first position with 16-4 record. Sorgues BC at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 13 games lost. Saint Chamond will play against La Rochelle (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sorgues BC will play against Vendee Challans and hopes to get back on the winning track.
