Regular Season Round 40: Barreteros - Panteras 73-83

Date: February 14, 2015
Rather expected game in Zacatecas where 14th ranked Barreteros (6-29) were defeated by eleventh ranked Panteras (14-23) 83-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Barreteros managed to win second period 17-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barreteros 40-29 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Adrian Jesus Villalobos (183) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 assists and naturalized Nigerian power forward Edward Ayileke (197-84) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panteras maintains eleventh position with 14-23 record. Barreteros lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 29 lost games. Panteras will meet at home league's leader Halcones Rojos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play against Halcones UV Xalapa (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
