Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (21-12) outscored at home 6th ranked Aomori Watts (17-16) 74-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Sendai 89ers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aomori Watts to just 5 points in third quarter. Sendai 89ers forced 29 Aomori Watts turnovers. Strangely Aomori Watts outrebounded Sendai 89ers 51-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Jeral Davis (216-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) helped adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth place with 21-12 record, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Aomori Watts keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Sendai 89ers will again meet at home Aomori Watts (#6) in the next round. Aomori Watts will have a break next round.
