Regular Season Round 40: Soles - Titanicos 94-78

There was no surprise in Mexicali where 9th ranked Titanicos (17-22) were defeated by fourth ranked Soles (28-10) 94-78 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Soles's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-10 extending their advantage to 16 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Nigel Wyatte (204-81, college: Wagner) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American swingman Justin Griffin (194-83, college: Hawaii-Hilo) who added 27 points during the contest. Griffin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Soles' coach Ivan Deniz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Jumaine Jones (202-79, college: Georgia) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Five Soles and four Titanicos players scored in double figures. Soles have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Titanicos keep the ninth position with 22 games lost. Soles will meet Fuerza Regia (#5) in the next round. Titanicos will have a break next round.
