Second Stage Round 3: Alghero - Cagliari A. 43-56

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Alghero's (0-2) home loss to Cagliari A. (2-1) 43-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cagliari A.. Alghero was better in fourth quarter 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 5 points in first quarter and to 12 points in first half. Cagliari A. forced 22 Alghero turnovers. It was a good game for Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Alessandra Fidossi (172-90) contributed with 17 points and 5 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Lucrezia Zanetti (174-97) added 14 points in the effort for Alghero. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cagliari A. will face Roma SRB at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alghero will play against Milano and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
