Second Stage Round 3: Albino - Carugate 51-63

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Carugate's (3-0) road victory over Albino (1-1) 63-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Carugate. Albino was better in second period 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Albino to just 5 points in third quarter. Carugate held Albino to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.7 percent accuracy of the winners and made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Carugate forced 19 Albino turnovers. Strangely Albino outrebounded Carugate 42-30 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Michela Frantini (175-83) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Patrizia De Gianni (191-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Carugate players scored in double figures. Czech forward Tereza Vorlova (186-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Marta Scarsi (182-95) added 5 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Albino. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Carugate will face Viterbo (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Albino will play against Biassono (#5) and hope to win that game.
