An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kotka. Third ranked Torpan Pojat faced 4th placed Peli-Karhut. Guests from Helsinki (15-5) defeated host Peli-Karhut (14-7) 74-69. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 41-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Torpan Pojat dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Peli-Karhut's 36. They outrebounded Peli-Karhut 50-36 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. International swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and the former international point guard Reetta Piipari (170-80, college: Xavier) added 18 points respectively. Torpan Pojat have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Peli-Karhut at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Torpan Pojat are looking forward to face Pyrinto (#6) in Tampere in the next round. Peli-Karhut will play on the road against Aanekosken in Aanekoski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
