Regular Season Round 23: KR - Haukar 64-55

Haukar (#4) was upset in Reykjavik by seventh ranked KR 64-55. It looked good early as Haukar took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then KR had a 20-9 second period charge getting the lead and Haukar was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-64. KR forced 22 Haukar turnovers. Strangely Haukar outrebounded KR 46-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Holton Tomasdottir Bergthora who led the winners and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Simone Holmes accounted for 21 points for the winning side. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 23 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and Sylvia Run Halfdanardottir (-98) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Haukar in the defeat. KR maintains seventh place with 4-17 record. Haukar at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. KR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Valur.
