The game with biggest result difference took place in Cancun. Local Pioneros (28-8) outscored 7th ranked Jefes (18-18) 112-78 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Jefes managed to win third quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Jefes' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) who helped to win the game recording 27 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) who added 13 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Melvin Cleveland (203-91, college: De Paul, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Pioneros and four Jefes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pioneros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 28-8 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Jefes lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Huracanes. Pioneros will meet Huracanes (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Jefes will play against Gansos and hope to secure a win.
