Regular Season Round 36: Shinshu BW - Fukushima 102-105

A very interesting game took place in Nagano. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Shinshu BW (13-19) to ninth ranked Fukushima (12-22) 105-102 in the fight for the sixth place. It looked good early as Shinshu BW took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fukushima had a 35-24 second period charge getting the lead and Shinshu BW was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 102-105. Fukushima made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Shinshu BW helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) chipped in 25 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio) who recorded 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Fukushima and four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukushima have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Oita H.Devils. Shinshu BW lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. Fukushima's next round opponent will be Aomori Watts (#6) on the road. Shinshu BW will play against Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
