There was an upset when higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (5-10) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Almeria (2-12) 57-53 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-14. But ASEFA Estudiantes won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward EeTisha Riddle (191-85, college: Missouri) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American-Polish forward Jessica Kitrys (185-92, college: Adelphi) chipped in 10 points. Forward Maria Conde (184-97) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and Clara Rodriguez (184-96) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Almeria maintains twelfth position in Group B with 2-12 record. Loser ASEFA Estudiantes keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Almeria will face higher ranked Dist.Olimpico (#4) in Madrid in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
