Regular Season Round 2: Guaros - Guaiqueries 60-69

The most surprising game was a loss of Guaros (1-1) in Barquisimeto on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Guaiqueries (1-1) 69-60. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guaros won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Guaiqueries won last quarter 23-16. American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Guaiqueries' coach Tony Ruiz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Kim English (200-88, college: Missouri) added 14 points in the effort for Guaros. Guaiqueries is looking forward to face Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Guaros will play on the road against Panteras in Caracas and are hoping to win this game.
