Second Stage Round 1: Mickiewicz - Nowa Sol 69-56

Mickiewicz used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Nowa Sol 69-56 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Mickiewicz. Nowa Sol was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mickiewicz dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Nowa Sol's 28. Mickiewicz forced 21 Nowa Sol turnovers. Nowa Sol was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Tomasz Gembus (197-87) stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and power forward Dawid Kolakowski (207-93) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mickiewicz players scored in double figures. At the losing side Marcin Chodkiewicz (200-82, agency: Promotex) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Marek Zywert (187-96) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mickiewicz will face Suchy Las (#7) at home in the next round. Nowa Sol will play against AZS AWF K-ce and hope to win that game.
