Regular Season Round 40: Atenas - Ciclista 84-81
Date: February 16, 2015
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Atenas (14-18) edged 9th ranked Ciclista (6-24) in Cordoba 84-81 on Monday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 20-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Atenas outrebounded Ciclista 40-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for the former international point guard Bruno Labaque (178-77, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). The former international Gabriel Mikulas (200-80, college: E.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Atenas' coach Pablo D'Angelo used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Italian swingman Patricio Rodriguez (193-84) replied with 19 points and naturalized Spanish point guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) added 21 points in the effort for Ciclista. Four Ciclista players scored in double figures. Atenas moved-up to fourth place. Ciclista lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 24 games lost. Atenas will have a break next round. Ciclista will play on the road against the league's leader Quimsa (#1) in Santiado Estero and hope to win that game.
