Regular Season Round 12: Al Riyadi - Moutahed 107-99

Leader Al Riyadi delivered the eleventh win on Wednesday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Al Moutahed (5-7) 107-99 in Beirut. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-18. But Al Moutahed won second period 29-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Riyadi made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Al Riyadi outrebounded Al Moutahed 52-40 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Al Moutahed helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!). American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Dewarick Spencer (193-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Riyadi (11-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Sagesse.
