Regular Season Round 17: IA - Breidablik 102-91

Rather expected game in Akranes where 6th ranked Breidablik (5-11) was defeated by fourth ranked IA (9-6) 102-91 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by IA. Breidablik managed to win fourth quarter 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IA shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Breidablik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Jamarco Warren (180-88, college: Charleston So.) stepped up and scored 48 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners and the former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) chipped in 7 points and 8 rebounds. Warren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Brynjar Aevarsson responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Snorri Vignisson (-97) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Breidablik players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. IA have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-6 record. Breidablik at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. IA are looking forward to face Valur (#5) in Reykjavik in the next round. Breidablik will play on the road against the league's second-placed FSU in Selfoss and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
