Rather predictable result in Ciudad Victoria where tenth ranked Gigantes (16-22) smashed 12th ranked Correcaminos (11-29) 98-79 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Gigantes. Correcaminos managed to win second period 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gigantes shot 60.3 percent from the field. Gigantes outrebounded Correcaminos 37-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Power forward Sean Carter (205-88, college: Massachusetts) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The victory was the third consecutive win for Gigantes. They maintain tenth place with 16-22 record. Correcaminos lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 29 games lost. Gigantes will meet higher ranked Huracanes (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Correcaminos will play against Pioneros (#3) and hope to secure a win.
