Regular Season Round 23: Santiago - Pinar del Rio 39-62

Leader Pinar del Rio delivered the twenty first win on Friday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Santiago (9-14) 62-39. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santiago. The game without a history. Pinar del Rio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Santiago 39-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international Anisleidys Galindo (179-89) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. International Taimi Fernandez (183-82) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Suanly Tanis (178-94) produced 15 points and 4 steals and power forward Yuliannes Leyva (185-95) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-2 record. Santiago at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Pinar del Rio will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santiago will play again against the league's leader Pinar del Rio (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
