There was no surprise when 7th ranked Villa Clara (4-19) was crushed on the road by third ranked Guantanamo (15-6) 81-61. The game without a history. Guantanamo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Guantanamo forced 26 Villa Clara turnovers. Forward Oslaidis Rojas (180-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points. The former international swingman Islen Carbonell (181-87) contributed with 8 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Center Lesdaine Valle (181-92) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Maria Perez (170-93) added 13 points in the effort for Villa Clara. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guantanamo maintains third place with 15-6 record having eight points less than leader Pinar del Rio, which they share with Sancti Spiritus. Villa Clara lost fifth consecutive game.
