No shocking result in a game when second ranked Capitalinas (18-5) beat at home 6th ranked Camaguey (8-16) 86-75 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 53-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by center Zuleira Atis (190-80) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and the former international center Klavdia Calvo (186-83) supported her with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by international forward Leidis Oquendo (180-82) did not help to save the game for Camaguey. Forward Betsy Herrera (168-94) added 21 points and 4 steals. Capitalinas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-5 record having just three points less than leader Pinar del Rio. Loser Camaguey keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Capitalinas will meet Santiago (#5) in the next round. Camaguey will play against Villa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
