There was a small surprise in Verona where sixth ranked Broni (1-3) defeated one of their biggest challengers Alpo VR (1-3) 65-52 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 42-22 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Broni forced 21 Alpo VR turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Alpo VR was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Valeria De Pretto (185-91, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and center Dunia Vujovic (188-87) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Giulia Monica (169-87) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Anna Rossi (170-85) scored 14 points and 4 steals. Alpo VR's coach Nicola Soave tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Broni left bottom position moving up to fifth place in A2. Broni will face higher ranked Ferrara (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Alpo VR will play against the league's second-placed Bologna and hope to win that game.
