Regular Season Round 21: Aalstar - Kangoeroes 92-83

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Kangoeroes (4-16) were defeated on the road by third ranked Okapi Aalstar (12-7) 92-83 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kangoeroes won third quarter 28-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okapi Aalstar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kangoeroes' 34. Okapi Aalstar forced 19 Kangoeroes turnovers. Strangely Kangoeroes outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 36-19 including 25 on the defensive glass. American point guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) chipped in 14 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Jordan Heath (208-91, college: Canisius, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) with 26 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Anthony Chada (196-89) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Okapi Aalstar maintains third place with 12-7 record having six points less than leader Oostende. Kangoeroes lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Okapi Aalstar will meet Spirou Charleroi (#6) on the road in the next round. Kangoeroes will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#4) and hope to secure a win.
